Laka Glacier Trek

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival Dharamsala

Arrive Dharamsala and check in Hotel in Bhagsu Nag.
Afternoon free to visit Bhagsu Nag temple and explore McLeod Ganj
Overnight at hotel

Day 02: Dharamsala. Acclimatization walk + a visit to Norbulingka

After breakfast at hotel go for an acclimatization hike up in the forest. It is two hours easy hike from Bhagsu nag to Naddi Village. It is levelled walk through thick forest of oak, rhododendron and deodar trees to Naddi village. En-route we come across a Buddhist stupa and some meditation huts in the middle of the forest. Old Tibetan monks live here and practice meditation. You do not see the monks but can hear their chants from inside the huts.  Walk ends at naddi village from where you have superb view of the peaks of Dhauladhar Mountain.  From Naddi drive to Lower Dharamsala to visit Norbulingka ( a Tibetan centre for learning and preserving traditional Tibetan art and craft). At Norbulingka you visit various workshops where you can see the artists making different kind of traditional artefacts. Tibetan Lunch at Norling Cafe at Norbulingka. Later drive back to Bhagsu Nag for overnight stay in hotel.

Day 03: Bhagsu Nag-Triund (9 kms, 5 hours walk)

It is steep ascent through mixed forest of oak, rhododendron and deodar trees to Triund. Triund is an alpine meadow situated atop a ridge from where we have superb view of the snow covered peaks of Dhauladhar Mountain on one side

Day 04: Triund-Laka Glacier-Triund (4 hours walk)

After breakfast at Triund we traverse a small ridge to reach Khabrotu from where we have closer view of the peaks of dhauladhar and Laka Glacier. Walk further down to Laka Glacier. Spend time at Laka Glacier. Later walk back to Triund for overnight stay in tents.

Day 05: Triund- Bhagsu Nag (4 hours walk)

After breakfast walk down to Bhagsu Nag. Trek Ends. Check in Hotel…Afternoon free to visit Dalai Lama Temple and Tibetan market in Mcleod Ganj on your own. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 06: Dharamsala-Departure

Check-out and proceed to further destination
