Government Institute of Cottage Industry is the place dedicated to preserve and promote the art and handicrafts of Sikkim. The Institute is also known as the Directorate of Handicrafts and Handlooms. This emporium is the best place to buy the rich and beautiful handicrafts such as Thangkas, Choktsees (foldable wooden tables with carving), woolen carpets, hand-painted masks, bamboo-craft, lamp stands, clothes and embroidered boots.

Most Propitious Time to Visit Gangtok

If you love mountains and want to treat your eyes to the mind boggling sceneries, then the most favorable time to visit Gangtok is from October to December. And if you are more inclined towards colorful flowers, then head for Gangtok between the period from March to May.
