Tirupati Venkateshwara Temple

Tirupati Temple is one of the most famous temples in the world.  Located on the Venkatachalam hill, the temple is dedicated to Lord Venkateshwara, the incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The temple is also known as the 'Temple Of Seven Hills'. The temple enshrines the idol of Lord Vishnu, which manifested on its own. The temple is visited by thousands of devotees every day. The temple reflects the Dravidian style of architecture.

Sri Govindrajaswamy Temple

Sri Govindrajaswamy Temple is another famous temple of Tirupati. The huge and captivating spire of the temple leave the onlookers awe-inspired. The temple enshrines the idols of Lord Vishnu and his incarnation, Lord Krishna. The temple was built in 1130 AD.

Sri Kapileswaraswami Temple

Sri Kapileswaraswami Temple is the only temple built in honor of Lord Shiva in Tirupati. Its mesmerizing architecture deserves mention. Located at the foot of the Tirumala hills, the temple is endowed with a natural waterfall.

Sri Kodandaramaswami Temple

The foundation of the Sri Kodandaramaswami Temple was laid by a Chola king in the 10th century. This beautiful ancient temple enshrines the idols of Lord Rama, Sita Lakshmana and Hanuman. The temple commemorates the journey of Lord Rama to Tirupati.

Sri Kalyana Venkateswaraswami Temple

A 12 km drive from Tirupati will bring you face to face with a beautiful temple named Sri Kalyana Venkateswaraswami Temple. It is believed that Lord Venkateswara rested here on his way to Tirumala.

Padmavati Devi Temple

Located 5 km away from the Tirupati temple, the Padmavati Devi Temple was built in honor of Lord Venkateshwara consort goddess Padmavati. It is believed that if one does not visit this temple, then one's pilgrimage to Tirupati is incomplete.

There are two dharmasalaS namely Sri Govindaraja Dharmasala and Sri Kodanda Rama Dharmasala at Tirupati, which provides free accommodation to devotees. Apart from these dharmasalas, there are several hotels providing decent accommodation facilities.

The handicrafts available in Tirupati are simply beautiful. Woodcarving and Kalamkari are the most famous art form practiced here. White wood toys, traditional Tanjore style Gold Leaf painting, books based on the treatise of the Hindu religion, metal idols of the heavenly deities, brass lamps and rangoli stickers are the major shopping items in Tirupati.
